James Cameron attempted to buy the rights to the novel "Jurassic Park", but Spielberg beat him by a few hours.

He described his version as "'Aliens' with dinosaurs."

it happens. They say Kaley Cuoco got the rights to "Flight Attendant" just minutes before Reese Witherspoon contacted the author to negotiate for them.

Cameron's Jurassic Park would've kept the scenes from the book where the game warden shoots Velociraptors
with rocket launchers. I'd bet he'd focus a lot more on action like this - blowing away dinosaurs, more people getting eaten etc. He also would've used his collaborator James Horner for the music (who already scored the animated dino kids film The Land Before Time).

Imho, Spielberg and John Williams was a good combo to show the wonder of dinosaurs. I don't think anyone could've captured that but them.
