No, I actually found this scene to be very interesting and important in the context of the future events in the film.
When they are attempting to land the helicopter (during the wind sheer) notice how Grant struggles with his seatbelt while hammond is attempting to offer advice and tell Grant how to tie it? Grant however, just ignores this and connects/ties the two 'female' ends of the seatbelt together without the 'male' end being present.
This is actually a foreshadow of future events in the film.
Firstly, although all the dinosaurs are bred all female they are are infact still able to 'connect' i.e breed in a single sex environment without a bred male being present.
Secondly, it also shows how Grant (and others for that matter) don't ever agree or listen to Hammond on his view on the park. In this instance Grant ignores Hammonds advice about how to connect the belt together but still manages to tie the belt before they land, proving Hammond wrong like he later does in the film.
You can now see why the extended helicopter wind sheer scene was included in the film,to provide important additional characterisation and give Grant a reason to use the seatbelt to set up the foreshadowing in future events of the film.
