Favorite scene

I really enjoyed this movie especially the scene where the mother and daughter were in the kitchen after the family dinner. Her mother told her that because she chose "bad quality" crab at the dinner table, she had good "quality heart" as opposed to the other guest.. I was blown away.

Each of thre stories was special in their own way:

1) Young Lindo's story was amusing with her husband as the little boy and at the end when she tricked the Chinese family into getting out of the arranged marraige.

2) Ying Ying's story was really sad for obvious reasons. Fortunately, she was albe to break the vicious cicle with her daughter

3) An-Mei's story was unbelievable: she had her moment when she screamed at the funeral. I was like "Right On!"

4) Waverly was someone you just wanted to slap some sense into. I did not feel one bit sorry for her as a kid. She was right, she did bring that "curse" upon herself and it cost her a brillant skill in chess.

5) Suyuan and june's story was heartwrenching.

The final scene where Waverly and Lindo made up at the salon.

for me it was the heartbraking scene were Lindo leaves her twins behind, because no one would take the baby's next to a dead mother...and than to realize she woke up in the hospital not knowing what had happend to her twins

and off course the scene with Ying Ying with the drowning of her baby
because it was the only thing she could take from her brutal husband

reply

It wasn't Lindo!

It was Suyuan who left the babies on the roadside.
