IMDb Censorship - This is a Racist Anti-Asian-Male Movie

Anyone else familiar with Michelle Malkin? We're all familiar with these types of people whether it's Asian, Black, Jewish, female, anything where they are used to say self-racist or self-loathing things negatively generalizing their people, to pander to the tastes of a particular (usually white, male) audience.

In this case Joy Luck Club panders to the white, feminist audience that likes to think it is the most progressive, advanced feminism for women around the world. Never-mind Asian feminism or the many examples that show how Asian women may enjoy more rights or power than Western women do in society, families, politics, media, or professionally. At the same time this movie also caters to White Knight males, often racist and supremacist and love to watch stories where they must save the female victim from her backwards, savage, oppressive culture (ala Avatar, Dances with Wolves, Last Samurai, yada yada). The pandering only works if it demonizes Asian males, which all of Amy Tan's books do. Amy Tan is an Uncle Tom author with a severe streak of Caucasian worship who happily obliges for self righteous western audiences.

The unfortunate fallout is that movies and media have major influence to shape people's thoughts, opinions, and perceptions of the world and of other people. This movie was perfectly designed to demonize Asian males, Asian cultures, and specifically catered to Caucasian-pandering Asian women and the White Knights (only in their heads) they ended up with.

It is very telling that IMDB censors threads it does not like which do not violate any rules or policies.

If IMDB censors threads as you say, then wouldn't they delete a thread that accuses Amy Tan of being an "Uncle Tom", white suprematism and IMDB censorship?

I don't think it was anti-Asian male, just as I don't think The Color Purple is anti-African-American male, as some like to argue. As far a TJLC, there were examples of positive Asian males - The man that the 50/50 girl remarried, the family members, etc. The movie was more about Chinese women and the struggles they endured. Some of which included Chinese men (and two Caucasian men - One was a cheater, and the other a pompous dude without manners).

How is Michelle Malkin self hating?

She is a successful Asian American woman who has successful immigrant parents. Why would she act like an American hating minority when that is not her experience?

She may have a problem with blacks and Latinos but not self hating at all.

You do understand that Asians in this country make more money than whites? So why would they act like an oppressed minority group when they are so successful?

Actually it sounds to me like you hate whites or think it is normal to hate whites. pretty sick.

I'm assuming you meant "African-Americans," or "people of African descent," or if you wanted to use crayon colors, you could capitalize/be consistent, and say "Blacks, Browns, and Yellows."

Anyhoo - if this Malkin person isn't "self-hating," if we were to go by your post, she's definitely a racist.

Michelle Malkin and Amy Tan have made entire careers reinforcing and supporting white privilege

There's no such thing.

I think of all the dumb comments on IMDB, yours proclaiming Michelle Malkin as self-hating is perhaps the dumbest. You must be a self-hating liberal.

There were a ton of horrible women in the movie.

* The woman who kicked her daughter out of the house and told her to kill herself because her daughter had been raped.
* The chess player was a bully
* The chess player's mother was arguably emotionally abusive (giving the silent treatment to your child? seriously?)
* The racist mother who tried to separate her son from his Asian girlfriend
* The woman who sold her daughter to some rich people
* The woman who abused and hit her daughter-in-law for not getting pregnant
* The "second wife" who kidnapped the fourth wife's son, and then tried to win over the fourth wife's daughter with a fake set of pearls
* A woman kills her own baby, for goodness sake

Did I miss any?

Not that I recall, and their descendants did not understand their worth. The mothers didn't show love, having been denied love by their mothers. The kids didn't know how to love, not recognizing it from their mothers. Something found all over the world.
