Allison directly addressing Mary by name
For some reason, I find this part in the movie weird. It's the scene in which Max, Dani, and Allison confront the Sandersons for the very first time. And in the ensuing fight, Allison grabs a broom and hits Mary with it.
Maybe I find this scene weird because how exactly does Allison at that point, know for sure what the Sanderson sisters look like? The obvious answer of course, is to say that Allison is already well studied on the Sandersons and their history.
But keep in mind that as far as I know, there was no photography available (just illustrations) yet during the Puritan era. So as far as I'm concerned, how can Allison find a 100% accurate description of what the Sandersons really looked like? At least behind what is basic and surface level like Winifred having red hair and buckteeth, Sarah being buxom and blonde, and Mary being heavy-set, having black hair, and a crooked mouth.
And from at least, Max's perspective, the Sandersons were up until then, a folk tale and not something that were real. I mean, the way that we obtain and process information now is a lot different than it was back in 1993. For example, the internet back in 1993, was still a non-entity for the most part.
