No, I think Dani really loved her brother and didn't want anyone to hurt him.

I wonder why Max got upset with Dani when she's talking back at the bullies when they're trick or treating. Is it because he's embarrassed and made to feel pathetic that he has his little sister in effect, fighting his battles for him? I guess, that it seemed weird that your sister can't stand up for you regardless of her age. They already stole Max's shoes, so what is he supposed to do, just keep his head down and hope that they don't notice him again?

The more that I watch Hocus Pocus the more that I think that Dani is going to need hardcore therapy following the events of the movie. And I don't mean to be facetious when I say this. I mean, no eight year old should experience the stuff that Dani experienced in this movie.

This is a pretty traumatic night for an eight-year old" indeed, though the result of his curse being lifted at least gives her some closure and hope.

Damsel in Distress: She ends up getting targeted by the witches three times in the movie. They first grab her when they reveal they intend to make her their first victim of the night, they abduct her later and try to force her to drink their freshly brewed potion, and Winnie threatens her life by either sucking out her life force or breaking her neck if Max didn’t give her the potion.
