The Black Flamed Candle

Look- I know movies & TV shows aren't gonna be perfect and I try not to be one of those people that pick them apart little detail by little detail. Especially Disney movies. I've loved this movie since I was young. I have it on DVD and have been watching it on Lifetime last night/into this morning (they did screw it up by the way.)
One thing that always bothered me is that black flamed candle. By didn't they TRY to snuff it out and why didn't it go out when Max set off the, "Burning rain of death"? (Sprinkler system) I get it's magic but it is a candle and it does have a flame.

As you said, it is a magic candle. It also has a BLACK flame, nothing normal about that. They could put it into a bucket of water, and it would probably keep burning.

reply

I wondered why they didn't at least TRY to maybe blow it about or put it out in some way when they saw it was ressurecting the witches.

Create a society in which you would like to live, not knowing what you're going to come into it as.

reply

YEa I could understand it not going out but I'm surprised they didn't at least try to. Unless they just assumed that it being magic and the sprinklers didn't put it out

reply

Or else once the spell got a proper start, it was going to continue the whole way, even if it was put out.

reply

It was magic. Couldn't be extinguished. Notice how part of it was already melted? People have probably tried to light it in the past, but there were actually some very specific conditions that needed to be in place before the candle's magic would work.

reply

Yeah couldn't you only light the candle on Halloween allowing the sisters to come back? Other than that specific night I don't think you can even light the candle.

reply

There was one scene where Max attempted to burn the book, but he couldn't because Binx said it was protected by magic. I'm sure the candle is protected as well. Once it's set, it's set.
