It works great as a comedy too, but just imagine how terrifying it would've been if was was a horror movie. This situation would be absolutely terrifying, especially if it happened for a thousand years, which is what happened in the original script. Phil could've gone insane, and became a cannibal or something.

shareIt could work as a horror movie. I was thinking phil repeats the same day over and over again as a masked serial killer. He kills the girl a different way in each loop. But in a twist, it turns out that the real killer is the room mate who gives the girl a poisoned birthday cake. I was going to say a poison cupcake but that would be dumb. Who gives an adult a cupcake for their birthday.

You should check out the movie Before I Go To Sleep (2014). Its kind of like a horror/thriller version of Groundhog Day. Although GHD is a better movie, its not too bad.
