Never gonna happen. Hollywood has gutted itself of the kind of talent it takes to make a simple, effective, character-driven thriller like this.

Hell, we don’t even have movie stars anymore. Are there any male stars in their 50’s with anywhere near the kind of gravitas Ford and Jones had in ‘93? Nope.

Now it’s all soy-boys and creepy leftoids trying to peddle their woke agenda via something resembling ‘films’.

Our only hope is for a whole new filmmaking industry to emerge which actually prioritises quality filmmaking and actually respects the intelligence of audiences.

Nope. There's too much dialogue, scene setting, and story telling.

This is one of the very few TV-shows-to-movies adaptation that really works & can stand on its own, while still being true in spirit to the original.

It is pretty much the gold standard. I think people forget how huge this movie was when it came out. It was nominated for BEST PICTURE! Today, film snobs would dismiss it as 'theme park cinema'.

To be fair, we don't get movies like this nowadays. If they're not arthouse-ish, you get stuff like fast and furious or the mcu films. Which I do enjoy but still, it's not the same. I was just talking to someone how we don't really get movies like The Fugitive or Ghost or any of these other classics that still get a lot of air-time.

Coincidentally I watched both The Fugitive and Ghost over Christmas. Both star-driven classics with a strong emotional centre - you’d never get that now. Younger family members enjoyed them too, I feel sorry for them - nobody is making that kind of quality entertainment for younger generations.

Yes, TG:M was a rare throwback to that better time, and you’d think the box office receipts would spur on studios to make more decent, non-woke material.

But no, they’re doubling down on going woke and broke instead. You have to wonder if some have been bought out by giant woke corporations like BlackRock who are big enough to absorb their constant giant losses… 🤔

One thing they did for the movie that wouldn't have worked for the series though. They gave the killer a motive to go after Kimball. So, there was definitely a path for Kimball to follow for the solution. In the series it was a random break-in so there was no trail to follow. Therefore they were able to make the series last.
