2. a dorsal fin on a full grown male orca can reach up to six feet tall
3. yes Haida is a real native american tribe
4. the scene where he was riding Keiko was the mechanical whale, but the feeding scene was the real Keiko
5. When Keiko was in Mexico he had developed a skin bacteria around his pecs, so that is what that scaring is
7. it is not known why they flop, it is thought that it is because they spend a lot of time at the surface, but there is also wild orcas who have flopped dorsals so it isn't just the captive ones
8. i believe it takes place in the pacific north west because willy's pod was J Pod and that is where pods J, K, and L live
#5, Keiko had a skin virus that was called Papaloma (sp?) virus in Reino Aventura in Mexico City, Mexico. The condition is aggravated by the chlorinated artificial salt water that is far too warm and he must be moved as soon as possible. But because his virus may be contagious, he cannot be transferred to a park with other orcas. This is why they decided to transport him to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, in Newport, Oregon. They built a new facility, just for him, with real salt water at a temperature of 49 degrees F.
#7, they actually found a pod in the wild where they released him that had the same flopped over dorsal fin like Keiko's. Researchers found that there was only one pod that had the this where they captured Keiko so long ago, and actually thought that that pod could be Keiko's family. Unfortunately, Keiko died in December 2003 and were not able to make the connection.
#1= I don't know but I may imagine he did a little.
#2= The tallest recorded are over six feet tall, but there have been some sightings of them being 9 feet tall.
#3= Yes, Haida are real, and August Schellenberg is actually half Cherokee and half Austria.
#4= I am absolutely sure he did in many scenes, but for instcance when Will y is physically out of the water, it is a robot.
#5= It was a papoloma like virus, it is generaly common in orca (or so I have loosley heard) but becuase of the warm temperatures in Mexico, it got really bad on him.
#6= Yeah, and Willy didn't quite like her!!
#7= okay, The dorsal fin is basically cartiledge, the same stuff that shapes your nose and ears. As many animals orca go through growth sperts. And especially males have big growth sperts. Now when they grow the cartiledge in the fin softens and then grows, then hardens. Now becuase in cpativity they spend 90% of their time above water, the weight of the fin flops it over, and it hardens like that, it doesn't hurt them (or so it seems). And it is not only in males, some captive female orca have the same thing. In the wild only 10% of orca have floppy fins, and this is becuase they spend 90% underwater, which the water pressure keeps it rather stable.
#8= I imagine the west coast, namely Washington State.
#9= I have no idea what your talking about, I never saw anything like that.
#10= Keiko was taken to a sea pen in his original home waters in Iceland, where he eventualy was set free. But his "trainers" had to keep an eye on him, and he never did join a pod, he only interacted with humans and begged for food and attention. It was in 2002 he migrated to Norway where he then died of acute Pnemonia, on December 12, 2003.
#9. This question referred to the scene where Jesse went to tell Willy goodbye, & he heard a "line recoils"(Closed Captioned), then he saw Dial & another man removing bolts from Willy's tank.
