I've been looking all over the place on each of the three films to find out what is what. I want to know (apart from the first film) was Keiko ever used in the second and third or was it just plain and simple animatronics?

It was Keiko almost entirely in all 3. Animatronics were used in such scenes as the moving willy scene in 1 as well as the ramming the glass scene and any other scene which could potentially harm the whale.
shareI should add also, scenes where Jason could be potentially harmed are also probably animatronic for instance, the tongue rub scene in 1.

I doubt it would have been animatronic for the tongue rub scene, because that's a pretty common thing for a trained orca to do.
shareI have to agree with ally d25. That would be impossible for that tongue rubbing scene. I doubt very much that could harm any of those 2. They do definetly train orcas to do a laundry list of safe stuff and the tongue rubbing is definetly one of those safe things they train all orcas into. I think they train all of them. I may be wrong but if I am I appologize. But again I agree with ally d.
shareI must retract my first statement. Infact, in the first one it was about 3/5 Keiko, 2/5 animatronic, and for the second two, it basically did switch from primarily Keiko to primarily animatronic. Here's why:
In the first one, my reasoning stands, any scene that was potentially harmful for Jason or Keiko were animatronic. In the others, because Keiko was not actually out in the open, most of it was animatronic. Small scenes which could be filmed around his pen would have had Keiko in them, but on the whole the last two were mostly animatronic.
By the way, the "fifths" was arbitrary, showing just over half as Keiko, and just under half as animatronic. I am sorry for the first false reporting.
