no board for this topic but here i go and i hope i don't get deleated. okay, who agrees that movies from the 90's were so much beter than today's movies? i DO! free willy was AWESOME! i was 5 when this movie came out i'm 19 now and i still watch it. free willy is just one out of a ton of 90's movies that we never see in today's movies. the 90's was a huge time in my life. now i'm not about to go into my life. all i'm saying is movies AND t.v. shows aren't what they used to be. Full House, Boy Meets World, Saved By The Bell...those shows absoulty ROCKED! now ya can hardly turn on the t.v. without seeing a fresh little young face as in 10 acting like whores and the boys acting like studs. t.v. and movies just aren't what they used to be. who's with me?
I grew up with movies like this in the 90's, it's so classic. Today's movies are always remakes or ripoffs of other ones. Some are really good, though, I must say.
But TV was MUCH better in the 90's. There were no stupid shows for frigging 0 year olds like Dora the Explorer or the Telletubbies, (what 1 or 2 year old watches TV anyway? shouldn't they be being supervised by their parents, or out doing at least something productive instead watching some mindless crap?). I agree with you, shows today are either for kids way too young, or have kids trying to act like adults. Kids these days always want to grow up so fast. I see 8 year olds walking around by themselves at the mall, wearing short little skirts and talking on cell phones. Why would they want the responsibilities that adults have? Now that I'm old (Well, compared to little kids, I guess. I'm only 16) I wish I was little again. Oh, one time I saw this kids movie with my friends, I hoestly forget which movie it was, and we were the oldest kids in the crowded theater. When the movie ended, my friends and I went up and danced to credits while people were leaving, and the kids around us were so embarrassed! What's WRONG with them! Sure we were being stupid, but we were having fun! Kids today should be growing up watching shows like Hey Arnold when they come home from school, or watch nice-quality disney movies. Little kids today think disney movies are too "baby-ish" for them. Jesus, they're only like, 4 years old.
I was babysitting one time for a 4 and a 5 year old, and I was picking out a movie to watch with them. I said "We should watch the Lion King!" (my favorite movie of all time), and they were like, "No, we hate the lion king!" I repressed the urge to smack them, and I go, "How about another disney movie?" And they said that they hated disney movies. They're "stupid and they sing too much." Now I feel so old.
Sorry for rambling/ranting. I needed to blow off some steam.
You can take your little white loafers and walk out the door!
I completely and totally agree! I too am 19 and I think that movies and television were so much better in the '90s and prior. I grew up with a major crush on Jesse, this was one of my favorite movies as a kid! Almost all of my favorite television shows are from the '90s or before. Shows like Seinfeld, Boy Meets World, Remington Steele (as you can tell from my signature!), Growing Pains, Welcome Back, Kotter, I could go on but I'll stop before I make this too long. The only shows I really love from today are Psych, Monk, and House, there aren't very many others that could make my favorites list. Of course I am somewhat weird in the fact that I think pretty much everything was better back then. No computers, no cell phones ( I must say that I completely and entirely hate cell phones, the only reason I have one is so that if my car breaks down I won't be found murdered in a ditch) - I've read way too many murder mysteries for my own good. Anyway I will shut up now because I'm getting off topic and will probably bore anyone who takes the time to read this.

Wow, that is so sad :(
Yeah I agree, kids these days, what went wrong? :/
I know this topic is kind of old and all, but hopefully you'll come back and see my message.

I've heard this exact response!! "They sing too much". My mom used to see a guy whose son was 4 when they started dating. A lot of times during their relationship, I felt like I had to be babysitter to him. So one day he asked to watch that horrible 'Garfield' movie that he'd seen a hundred times before, and I tried talking him out of it by recommending some of my old Disney VHS tapes. He began looking through them, and suddenly it was apparent that he had no interest in watching a movie if it was a. on a VHS, b. hand drawn, c. a musical. He outright said, 'I don't like it when they sing in the movie'. And he didn't even know how to use a VCR, but knew how to use a DVD player. What happened to this generation!?

Believe you me, it's all in your mind. There are plenty of stuff out there for kids these days. You just don't like it because you're not a kid.
* Hannah Montana * The Suite life of Zac and Cody * Wizards of Waverly Place * Camp Rock * High School Musical * Drake and Josh * The Jonas Brothers * Dreamworks films like Shrek, Madagascar etc * Pixar films like Cars, Ratatouiie, Up, Finding Nemo
There have also been some quite good kids films in the past few years for example Bridge to Terabithia (had a very innocent 90's feel), Hotel for Dogs, Transformers Movies, Holes, Harry Potter etc
These are the things 00's kids will reminice about. What's wrong with that? They are not deprived.
The 90s were epic. But right now, shows like Dexter and It's Always Sunny are on. TV has its rare step-ups in quality this decade, but they are few and far between. But one thing people can't knock: the music now is horrible.
Movies then were a lot more fun with a lot less CGI and more practical effects. That's my main gripe. With modern American censorship holding everything down, I guess that's what happens.
