The irony I was expressing in my post was pertaining to one of the underlying tones of the movie - exemplified as "save the whales". Because Willy is, indeed, a whale - the death of baby humpback whales in subsequent to his release would be ironic. Theoretically, the emancipation of a killer whale, which would lead to the killing of other whales, is in contradiction to the "save the whales" ideal. Clearer now? I guess it takes more of a non-linear thought process to understand my original post.

You sir, have succeeded in making me lose interest in this thread. Nowhere did I once proclaim animal cruelty as being an underlying tone of the movie (in relation to Willy being let go, that is). You seem to enjoy acting high and mighty; would you be so kind as to point out the errors in my post, Mr. Ben Stein?

Nice job looking through my post history. Commendable. Very commendable. I guess I should start appreciating movies like The Rock and GoldenEye. Then again, action films are often too Hollywood-esque for my taste. I prefer old classics and artistic foreign films from the 50s and 60s, which arguably have more subsistence than modern Hollywood filth. share
