Bad example

What kind of example does this movie set for kids?

This movie is telling kids to defy authority and be juvenile delinquents? If someone is breaking the law, call the cops. Or as Doug Llewelyn said at the end of The Peoples Court- "Don't take matters into your own hands. You take 'em to court."

reply

No, this movie is telling kids to do what is right. Following the law or what some "authority" figure says doesn't always make something right. It's telling kids to use their own heads and make that judgment on what is truly right and wrong.

reply

Kids almost always know right and wrong better than adults do.

The OP is a lame-ass. Do you know where we would be if people always listened to authority?

I think the original poster missed the point of the movie. It doesn't encourage dilinquent behavior at all. If anything, it shows how troubled kids can turn their lives around when they find something they're passionate about - something that builds their confidence, keeps them busy, and has them working hard enough where they don't even have time to get into trouble. Look at how Jesse's friendship with Perry fell apart once Jesse became more involved at the aquarium and settled into life with his foster parents. That kind of stuff makes a difference with kids, and that's what the movie was trying to teach.

reply

You are right, this little *beep* breaks things, and his foster parents are idiots.

reply

Yes, in general that's the case.

But we're rational beings, capable of analysing situations.

What would they earn by calling the police? The guys would go to jail, and Willy would die.

Saving a life is preferable over getting the murderer to jail.

Also, laws are very weak and friendly on animal abuse. If they'd wanna talk to kids about laws and good example, they'd need to talk about politics, about how people would be able to vote on people to create better laws, laws that would make illegal to have wild animals in captivity for showing to public, etc etc.
