A party right after hospital release?

I really enjoyed this movie for the most part. Kind of creepy and pretty entertaining. But, the one scene that drives me crazy is the party they throw for Travis after he is released from the hospital. I mean, come on! No one would be up for that after going through such a traumatic experience. His fiance and family should have clearly seen that he needed plenty of rest and time away from people to deal with his experience. The last thing on my mind for a loved one going through that would be a party! Jeez. I hope that was just stupid writing.

People bring food and congregate after somebody has died. These people didn't know how to respond to the fact that Travis had been found alive.
