How much money did these guys make
by selling this ridiculous story?
I bet they all got to pay their mortgages or better homes.
Just knowing we're in the same genus makes me embarrassed to call myself homo!

True or not, the quetion was "How much money did (t)he(y) make on the story?"
shareI don't know, but it's never as much as people assume.
It's hard enough to make money from a book or film if you're in it, under contract. The Powers That Be always have a way of keeping the lionshare for themselves. This includes publishers, studios, promoters...
Look at musicians: they create a product that is all their own, work their assess off to record and promote it. The record companies keep nearly everything and artists are left to make money from touring alone.
The only ones who 'pay their mortgages, buy bigger houses, and eat caviar on the riviera' blah blah blah are the super big heavy-hitters in any industry or endeavor.
He failed... even tried to cheat the first test done by McCarthy.

Lincoln Lee: I lost a partner.
Peter Bishop: I lost a universe!
"If I read it in a book, them words is true, der dee der!"
sharePlus, you are uninformed about the "lie detector" tests. I am amazed how gullible people will swallow a story and never bother to check it out first.
sharepolygraphs are notoriously unreliable.
shareEach of the seven sawyers made $2,500 and Travis Walton got whatever he got for his book.
shareThe problem is that you saw the movie. You didn't see what the actual real life person saw. If anything. You can't know. His experience or something like it has happened to supposedly thousands of people. So the problem is that something IS happening, we just don't know what. Lots of these 'abductees' have had all sorts of deep hypnosis treatments and they certainly 100% believe that these events happened to them so a lot of them are not lying.
