Made me think about animal testing

There was nothing particularly outstanding about this movie. But it got me thinking about animal testing and the use of animals by humans. I think the poor animals who have been imprisoned by humans and are being experimented on, or just killed for food, must feel pretty similar to the way the abducted guy felt on the operating table of the alien spaceship. The fear and protest of the animal is just coldly ignored by humans who consider it a "lower being" not capable of sophisticated emotions.

Me too! Funny little movie. The alien flashback sequence scared the BLEEP out of me a few days ago when I rewatched it! Bettert than expected with some really cool moments.

Re: animal testing. Walton himself says he wasn't tested like the actor was in the movie. Instead, he believes that he was accidentally "zapped" by a beam in the course of some unknown function of the ufo/alien tech. He further says that when the occupants discovered what had happened, they took him aboard in order to treat him if they could. He says he woke up and repelled aliens who approached him - the only violence, then was from Travis-to-aliens, not the reverse. Finally, he says that he thinks that they put him back on the ground when it seemed obvious to them that he was out of danger. So they accidentally injured Travis, but then afforded him shelter until it was clear that he would be okay.
