Perhaps one of the best alien films out there?

If you had to make a list, in which place would you put this movie on? I remember creeping me off when I was 6 years old :D

reply

A list of what? I'd say it was a little overrated, still a decent watch. Thought it was funny to have Robert Patrick in it, with x-files and all.

reply

Of alien films, this would probably be in 10th place.

1. Alien
2. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
3. The Thing (1982)
4. Predator
5. 2001: A Space Odyssey
6. Super 8
7. M.I.B.
8. Evolution
9. Sphere

I'm assuming the OP means alien abduction films. The genre is pretty lacking.

Hands off the pie

If that is the case, "Fire in the Sky" is the best. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of alien abduction movies, but they all suck. I would only have a list of three:
1. Fire in the Sky
2. Communion
3. The Forgotten

Most of the rest aren't even worth mentioning.
One I haven't seen but have heard good things about is "The UFO Incident" (1975 made for t.v. movie based on a true story)

Where would they go with alien abduction movies though? The only thing I could imagine would basically be your typical horror movie, only with aliens.

reply

I would probably add Intruders (1992) to that list.

The more recent "alien abduction" movies I've seen follow the slasher format. Basically just aliens running around and terrorizing a group of people. I prefer films where the aliens and their motives are left a mystery. I think Communion does a great job with this. We don't even know if the aliens are real or imaginary. My only gripe with Fire in the Sky is that they went overboard with the spaceship scene. To be fair, Travis Walton's account was far more bizarre and I don't mean that in a good way.

Yeah, this was a pretty darn good film.

This one's my fave, though I've never seen Communion.

Progeny and Xtro are pretty good.
