Anyone have good reasons why they like this movie?

Things I thought were cool about this movie:

- Everyone knew each other.
- The guys and girls had split story lines.
- The "oddballs" (Cynthia,Tony&Mike) were the only mixed-gender group.
- Pink taking Mitch under his wing.
- Jodi taking Sabrina under her wing.
- O'Bannion being douchiest of the boys.
- Darla being the bitchiest of the girls.

Anyone else?

reply

Alright alright alright!

reply

the freshman getting their revenge on O'Bannion
the boys throwing garbage cans at mailboxes and another boy throwing a bowling ball at a car windshield

reply

Oh yeah, and I also liked :

- Wooderson's love for redheads.
- Don acknowledging Sabrina. (Giving her a beer)
- Shavonne relating to two groups of people. (The bitchy girls and the cool girls)
- Jodi looking out for Mitch.
- A junior falling for Mitch

reply

~Mel letting Mitch keep the change and giving his pool opponents a beer.
~Pink introducing Mitch and Julie (clearly he was trying to get something going and it worked)
~Wooderson helping break up the fight
~Tony inviting Sabrina with them for breakfast
~Slater's willingness to share his stash w/ anyone
~Mr. Payne's bow tie (always makes me chuckle)

Would I watch or like the movie if any of the actors in the movie had no career?

reply

Depends on your taste...when I first watched it I didn't know Ben and Matthew were in it...in fact I didn't even recognize Ben Affleck at first lol. I love character movies so I loved it instantly, it's shot so well and the music is awesome!

reply

The only thing I liked about this film was the music. As for the rest: just like "Boyhood", I'm not interested in Richard Linklater's fantasy teenage years.

"Fantasy teenage years"? You gotta be kidding right - I hardly think that this amazing flick was areflection of fantasy teenage years. That's how it went down in the 70's obviously...one of the best films ever, that's for sure.

Go and creep back under your rock - you obviously have a limited brain and like to stick to crappy remakes of crappy action movies...

I love the scene where late into the party at the moon tower Benny is sitting in a deck chair in the back of a pickup and attempts to stand up, wobbles on his feet and immediately decides to sit back down as standing was not a good idea... !! I have so been there!!

reply

Lol yeah, that part was good and subtle

reply

Because it's one of the greatest movies ever made?

...said by no one.

Said by many..check on Youtube and other discussion forumns.

Hugely underrated in the history of cinema + one of the best ever, that's for sure.

reply

I read many reviews that agree with me. Just a boring film.

reply

None of these actors were known at the time this movie was made.

SO? That obviously doesn't automatically make it a good movie. You have no logic whatsoever.

reply

I think that person is giving a reason why they personally like the movie...bc at the time no one was big star and it may be enjoyable for some to see the stars before they were famous.

reply

I like it for the nostalgia and that I grew up in Austin. If you weren't shy and unsure of yourself as a teen back then, it was nothing but pure fun. Otherwise it was a life of loneliness and ostracizing.

Today's teens may be flatliners, but political correctness, more acceptance, and electronic devices have alleviated loneliness for many

Yes, But that itself is no legit reason to call a movie good. If you were a movie critic & gave movies high ratings just cuz u like the actors in them, then u would be fired like in the 1st week.

reply

I thought the oddball group was the best. I could relate to them based on my high school life. Wooderson and Slater were just fun to watch.

reply

One thing I love about "Dazed and Confused:" the endless number of great quotes. If you don't believe me, just look at the "quotes" section of IMBD and try not to smile.

reply

-after hazing and humiliating all the freshman girls the seniors drive them all home
-all the senior guys (excluding Benny and O'Banion) embrace Mitch and treat him like one of the guys despite him being a freshman and busting the hell out of him just hours before
-Pickford was the hottest guy in this movie ( which explains why he had the hottest girl)
-Pink could do so much better than Simone
