Is this movie a bit racist or what?
Or is it just me?
shareIt trades in broad cultural stereotypes, but no more so than a thousand other films (The lily white Fargo anyone?). It just so happens here the characters are black and the kneejerk reaction is to chalk up the depiction to racism.
It's not the most enlightened view of Jamaican culture, but to call it racist is to misuse the term IMHO.

The definition of the word racism is the belief in the superiority of one race over another. Given that fact, how is this movie racist?
Just the opposite, it shows these four young black men to be the equal of anybody else!
I intend to live forever.
So far, so good.
Oh my god. Why do poeple ask this questioin. It is a pointles one.And even if it is you already watched it the movie is made. What does it matter. The movie is not going to disappear.
shareIs this movie a bit racist or what? Why, because it focuses on 4 black bob-sledders instead of 4 white, or 4 Asians? What a brainless post!🐭 share
You could say it was a bit racist in the sense that it was extremely stereotypical that the Germans were portrayed as bigoted against the Jamaicans.
shareOh my god, settle down. Your completely pointless argument in another thread should be evidence enough- you have no idea what you're talking about. So; just stop.
shareJust like spookyrat you have no intelligent retort. I completely destroyed him, don't let me do the same to you.
shareLegend has it that after Stratego destroyed spookyrat he/she/they embalmed the body and entombed the remains within his/her/their bedroom crawl space. It is said that each night Stratego attempts to resurrect the mummified corpse of Spookyrat but is so afflicted with grief that the final portion of the incantation is inevitably cut short by fits of rage and uncontrollable hysterics.
shareAnd fact says that Bootselectric is a mental patient who's forgotten to take his medication.
shareDefinitely puts the 'whites' in low light. This movie needs to be reported, it's worse than the original The Birth of a Nation.
Seriously though, why is it everytime a movie shows a group of characters, who all happen to be not Caucasian, it automatically becomes racist?
It's you.
