Knarftling the Garthok

One of my favorite quotes from the movie is "You call that knarftling, Beldar?" Talk about a line that's never been uttered in a movie before!

I wanted to be sure I spelled it right in a new e-mail signature, so I turned on closed captioning. Turns out, it's spelled knarftling. And the end of movie credits said Closed Captioning by Paramount Pictures. Since they're working off the script, that's the "canonical spelling". (I've seen narfling, gnarfling and other spellings. I never would have guessed knarftling.)

Not really trying to say anything thought-provoking here to garner a lot of responses or controversy. I just thought I would share a bit of trivia with other fans of the film.

Nothing profound needs to be said about this movie... IT's the Coneheads. I love this movie!

Well I have the movie tie-in book, The Life and Times of Beldar Conehead, and in there they spell it "knarfling". I would consider the book info canon. Closed-captioning isn't always "canon", I know folks at Cartoon Network for example and the spellings of minor characters (as seen on ref sheets) isn't always what shows up on closed-captioning. *shrug*
