BILLY MURRAY INSTEAD OF FARLEY

ON SNL HE PLAYED RONNIE I THINK HE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED RONNIE AGAIN INSTEAD OF FARLEY, BUT THAT IS MY OPINION, MAYBE ALSO LAURIANIE NEWMAN SHOULD HAVE PLAYED CONNIE TOO

reply

He's just too old and out of date and I didn't think Lauraine had anything to do with the old SNL cast anymore.

reply

no way, chris farley was way cooler

reply

Yeah, Chris was at the peak of his career at that point, so to cover a bigger audience, they used him instead of bill, who would appeal to an older crowd. I love how they threw in all of the SNL cast members of that time period, it was great. I wish they would have given Tim Meadows a bigger role, he is so understated!

Chris Farley did a great job...RIP

Godbless Chris F.

Laraine Newman has a small part in the movie. She plays a conehead spectator in the arena when Beldar fights the beast.

Stop shouting, it's rude.

I really liked Chris Farley as Ronnie but I could see Murray in the role. I was initially surprised that Larraine Newman didn't play Connie either, but then I noticed that the story took place before Connie was born and I guess by the time Connie reached her teens, they wanted someone who looked a little younger than Newman to play Connie because if you look closely at Newman during her cameo appearance later in the film, the lady hasn't aged too well.

I love Chris Farley. );

I think Murray was wise not to appear in this film, unlike many of the SNL people. But also, he and Newman were too old now to play those roles.

chris was great! his scenes were my favorites in the movie=))

reply

YES, AND THEN MAYBE HE COULD TEACH YOU HOW TO TURN OFF THE CAPS-LOCK KEY!

I don't really like either Murray or Farley, but I thought that Farley was good in this movie. He used his same trademark schtick but it worked for the character. He made a small role come to life. Murray seems to not create a character as much as just deadpan deliver jokes. If the jokes are good and happen to fit his deadpan style, then he works. Otherwise he comes across as flat. I vote for Farley.

Chris was perfect. He changed the character from a slacker to a kind of insecure guy. He was funny. The old SNL actors would have been way too old to play teenagers at that time.
