How realistic was the grenade scene?

I live close to LA and I hear all the time in the news about the drive byes (usually with uzis and automatic weapons), but I've NEVER heard of a grenade attack by these thugs. I would think they weren't sophisticated enough to get their hands on such weaponry (But organized criminals or big time drug dealers could). But I guess I could be wrong.

Does this REALLY happen with street gangs once in a blue while? 

I dunno... but the building exploding like it did was totally unrealistic. lol

I know its sorta late but yes, sometimes it happens its very *beep* rare though. A lot of times some of the gang crews managed to get there hands on Grenades, and even military grade weaponry but a lot of the time they never use it, and its mostly a status type of thing. Just recently in Fresno County they did a gang sweep (Running checks on people who are on Probation) and found a Rocker Launcher.
