Does anyone know how the area in the first part of the film (before the prison) looks like in 2014?
It looks like there was still some undeveloped land in some scenes.
Does the area still look like today?
I live on the East Coast so I wouldn't know.
not too many changes to ela. they are coming, starting witht he metro stations they built. but by and large the same. i do not know where that tree is though, nor if it actually exists as they display it.

shareEl Pino--the pine tree--is a pretty famous LA landmark. Certainly BIBO contributed to that fame, but I think it was already known. I remember reading about it online before and the tree had its own Wiki page. I'd guess it's still there; it was last time I read about it anyway. I've never been out to Cali, but I'd love to make a sort of movie geek pilgrimage to that tree one day. And punch my chest and kiss my hand, then eat a burrito.
