lead miscast

the lead role was miscast. Damian Chapa's acting was horrible and cringe worthy. they couldn't find a better actor than that?

I agree. The other two leads were awesome. Damian was just... off.. to be honest he reminded me of Brandon Walsh from 90210 for a majority of the movie. Just didn't buy him as a gangster....

Guys, it actually works better when it looks awkward. That's the point of him being white. And you think he's not a gangster? Dude, in real life it's way stranger than fiction. You'll get your ass shot down by some kid with 3 teeth left with an IQ of about 55, and the last thing you'll hear is some stuttering of slang from the people influencing him. That or from some rap song lol.

lol in the real world, the Miklos are the only ones still joining gangs from the perspective of pure stupidity.

aside from his acting quality, his racial make up is right on. one of the former heads of the Mexican mafia (his book was the basis for 'American me') was of possible mixed race lineage. that was a purposeful point, not an oversight. mero mero handed the reins to him purposely, in spite of other factors, because he felt a less violent person could perpetrate the gang more and avoid dumb beefs, etc. very realistic. now I'm not saying he's deniro but racially it is on.
