The Ending Sucked
Because at the end of the day both Paco and Miklo are always going to enemies because of who they both turned out to be in life.
Am I missing something here?

did you want Paco and Miklo to kiss and make-up? or to hold hands and sing kumbaya? just because it's not a "happy ending", that doesn't mean it's "pointless".
shareHell No I didn't want that type of lame ass ending. I just wanted to know why Cruz was trying to make Paco feel like *beep* over everything that happened when they were all grown adults at that time when things went to *beep* in there lives that's all.
In my opinion the ending of the film should of been with with Cruz being embraced by his family at his kid brothers burial site over that contrived trip down memory lane ending between Paco and Cruz that we got.
On a funny note this was the role that permanently typed poor ole Benjamin Bratt forever.
He wasn't trying to make Paco feel bad. He was trying to help him get over his anger at his cousin and himself.
Can't stop the signal.
I wasn't particularly fond of the ending either. It was too long and cliche. Maybe a better ending would have Paco and Cruzito cruising down Whittier in a bomb ramfla.
shareof all the discussions I've had re: this flik, the ending is the most solid to me. not everyone progresses. one was stuck one wanted to move on. I found this one of the best endings ever. me and my brothers and cousins use to go to that river site in l.a. the year after this came out when we were all in our 20's/30's and would scream : EAST LOS!!". Great ending.
