Best Movie
Best Movie of all time, what do you think?
sharelike wine it gets better with age.
priceless film.
I have to admit, I probably watch it once a month just because. Great movie, love the soundtrack, late 80's early 90's. Who knew that Dexter Rutecki would come back to life and begin directing movies??? I thought his movie, "The Kingdom" was great too!

I know I'm kinda covering old ground here, but there are very very few serious movies about skiing. The only ones that I can think off hand are 'Downhill Racer' and of course 'Aspen Extreme'. Aspen Extreme had a good underlying message to it, and Downhill Racer I think could be compared to "Grand Prix".
Other than that, most movies about skiing (as opposed to "Ski Movies") are those cheesy cheap comedies that are about getting laid and drunk. 'Hot Dog' and 'Ski School' had their moments but, yeah for the most part it's an untapped resource. I really wish there were more movies about Skiing. Then of course there was "Extreme Ops" which had some skiing elements in it, but again not really a movie about skiig.
Aside from actual "Ski Movies" the one really good actual Documentary (and I'm talking "Endless Summer" type stuff) is a fairly recent documentary called "STEEP", which charts the world of Extreme skiing through present day. It's an actual documentary as opposed to a "ski movie" and it's a must-see for skiers. I honestly would call it the best movie about skiing ever made. Very well done, really very riveting.

As for actual ski movies?, "Blizzard of Ahhhhhs" is a must see, even though it's 20 years old it holds up well. Watching Plake and Schmidt dropping cliffs never gets old. I also really enjoyed "High Society", and "There's Something about McConkey" are excellent. Althought just about any ski movie by MSP is excellent.
As much as I respect Warren Miller, other than "Steep and Deep" the older stuff doesn't really hold up that well. They are a little dated now, way to much filler and travelogue stuff, and not enough actual skiing. The Warren Miller ski movie formula seems dated now. Although "Storm" and "Fifty" were both very good ski movies.
Not even CLOSE to being the best movie of all time. I assume the OP was joking...
Have to admit, probably the best skiing movie of all time. Peter Berg has gone on to direct some other very good films, the kingdom, friday night lights.
Aspen Extreme is fun to watch, good story, music, great skiing.
I will forever remember the time I went to Aspen, and my brother found a board with newly announced ski instructors, and penned in the name "Dexter Rutecki" below all the rest.
Something tells me that must happen quite often, thanks to this movie =)
A true classic.
