IMDB says this movie was released in 1992... I know for a fact I rented it earlier... I graduated in 1991 but I rented it in 10th grade and we watched it in Auto-Mech class... So that would have been around 1988 or 1989... So what gives???

shareThe film wasn't even shooting until 1991, and it premiered in late 1992 at a film festival. (Wasn't officially released in theaters in the US until early '93)

Unless you had a bootleg of a prerelease screener of the film, there's no way you rented it prior to 1992. Evil Dead 2 didn't hit theaters until March 1987. Do you really think they got immediate approval for a sequel, had it in theaters and available to rent within a year and a half?
And in truth, Army of Darkness didn't get a real theatrical release until 1993.
