So I'm guessing they're going with the American ending of Army of Darkness as canon?

I kind of hope so. We talked about my idea for the series on this weeks episode of my podcast. I would like Ash to become like Donald Sutherlands character in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. Where he basically finds an trains the next hero who will fight the Evil.

some speculate they can't reference AOD due to rights issues although that would beg the question how Ash got back to the present.
