Seasons 8 and 9.

I was a X-files nerd back in the days but when David Duchovny left I just couldn't bare to watch the programme anymore .. Final after so many years I decided to watch season 8 and 9 and to my surprise I really do like Agent Doggert .

Unlike Mulder, Doggert is not one that needs to be the centre of the world. He keeps his personal demons to himself.

I have this feeling that Doggert slowly went from respect to admiration to actually falling in love with Scully as the series proceeded.

I'm wondering if it's just me that is seeing way too far into their partnership or am I right in thinking that Agent Doggert has feelings for Dana?

I'm not sure if Dana is aware of Doggert's feelings though.

I also like new comer Monica Reyes ...she is a very likable character..I'm quite sure she is interested in Doggert but he seems to what to ignore her.

Season 8 is actually not that bad. There´s a few good episodes. Really liked the episodes, Roadrunners and Invocation. I hated 9 though.

^ same here.. season 9 is the worst

I really liked season 8. In some ways I think it's the only way the show could have gone. Sure, the format of the show was thrown to the wind, but that's not so weird today, long running shows often turn on their ear as they wrap up. I really liked the new characters, I thought they worked. I've never seen season 9. The finale for season 8 was perfect. So good they redid it for the revival. Mulder himself becoming an X File and his skeptic companion having to solve the mystery was utterly brilliant. The end. I didn't need more.

Yeah, they should've ended it at 8. No need for 9 and certainly not the awful, soulless revival.

I absolutely loves Season 8, and in many ways prefer it to Season 7. my only gripe with Season 8 is I didn't like the storyline where Mulder dies and is brought back to life. But Robert Patrick was a great addition to the show. Doggett was great. The tone went back to the darker, earlier tone of the show, and moved away from the bright campiness of Season 7. I wish the show ended with the Season 8 finale.

9 however is awful. Reyes was fine in small dosages but her character didn't do it for me. Scully pushed to the background, changing the opening theme was dreadful, most of the episodes were dreadful, and the finale was nothing more then a clip show. I liked maybe 3 episodes from Season 9 and that's being generous. I also liked the addition of Cary Elwes. But 9 overall is horrendous.

I agree that 8 is better than 7. 9 is pretty much unwatchable.

Agents Doggert and Reyes did it very well, much better than I thought. Yes, Reyes was interested in Doggert. For him it was only a proffesional relation, his only aim was to find the murder who killed his son.

@ to overseas7

Well, he did in the end have feelings for Dana but he never ️came forward cause he knew she was in love with Mulder .

Dana instead considered him like a very close friend in the end.

I do not remember it very well, in order to be honest, but I have the feeling that Doggert was not in love with Dana, he appreciated her as a good person she was, but not more than that….. I think
