"Paper Clip" - what more you could ask for?

Scully's mom - Cancer Man, British man & the other old guys talking (including the fat guy who's such a bad actor) - Krycek - the Lone Gunmen ... everybody good is in this episode! Sad that Melissa Scully dies tho.

Plus Albert Hohstein, the Native American - Scully gets to wear pants! (1st episode?) - files, lots & lots of files - tiny aliens - and a spaceship.

Correction: That's Albert Hosteen

Was it just me, or did the "Files, lot's and lots of files" exchange between Mulder and Scully sound like they were reading a page from a Dr. Seuss book?

reply

Yeah, maybe that was the inspiration. It sure gave me a chuckle. Mulder said something too in that scene that I can't remember now ... darn. I always figure they let Duchovny get away with improvising at moments like that.

reply

I remember his earlier line when they were trying to get in to see the files, "I'd like to try door number one Monty". (Old school Let's Make a Deal reference).

Was that it?

reply

Yes! It was lines like that that made me fall in love with DD.

reply

That line makes me laugh every time I see it.

reply

It would be kinda fun to see just a highlights film of all of Mulder's (and maybe Scully's) funny lines, wouldn't it? There were LOTS. That humor made all the tension work even better.

One of my favorite Mulder quips is in the episode 731, I think. Mulder is trapped on the train with the bomb, assasin, and creature/person. Scully calls and he says something like, " Let me tell you, Scully. You haven't seen America until you've seen it by train," or something like that. It's funny every time.

That was the episode shown recently on MyTV, and I agree, given the situation and countdown that was happening at the time the line was made even funnier.

reply

I totally agree, GAG, that was hilarious. He always knew how to cut the tension. I don't know, I'm thinking maybe we should start a thread of all the funny lines we remember from Mulder. Bet it would be long.

I thought you were talking about 'Operation Paperclip'.

"Operation Paperclip was the codename under which the US intelligence and military services extricated scientists from Germany, during and after the final stages of World War II."

In other words, USA INCORPORATED Nazís into their 'science community' and that's how NASA was formed.

I didn't think this show would dare talk about things like that, they rather talk about black goo monsters of the week.

reply

I believe that is where the inspiration for the episode came from. Mulder even tracks down an ex-Nazi scientist guy. From memory, they were helping experiment on alien/ufo technology.

reply

agree, it was a good one

I do not remember a lot about this chapter right now but...I am sure it was good 😉
