The time-travel theories for each show worked differently. "Quantum Leap" had it so you could only travel within your own lifetime- meaning you could not go to before the start of your existence or ahead to the future. "Time Trax" had it where you could travel back to way before you existed- but you could only do it just once and would remain in your own time once you have returned.
