A pleasant surprise...

I was searching through Netflix and was pleasantly surprised to find this show along with Sliders. Seaquest had it's problems sure, but also had some good moments and episodes. I've had a lot of fun catching up with the show after 20+ years.

Yeah, I don't recall it being a bad show. There were one or two tech flubs, and at the time I was too busy to watch it, but what I saw looked okay for the first season. When I caught it the next year the cast had changed and so had the stories, which made me wonder who was in charge.

Then when the episode with the two kids playing online "real" computer games with robots aired, along with the "futuristic talking AI supercomputer", I really wondered what on Earth was happening with that show.

If you're going to make a sophisticated show for an audience, then that's the show you need to make, or don't do it at all, and certainly don't tweak it for the sake of survival, because you wind up driving away the audience you made it for.

Except for the ghost story, the first season was decent. And I could even forgive that episode since it was made for Halloween. Didn't like the changes for the second season and absolutely hated the changes for the third.

I re-watched the series on Peacock. First, the HD upgrade is stunning. The show looks better than ever. The show is pretty damn cheesy, but I have to admit it brings back a lot of nostalgic memories of watching it and enjoying it as a kid. I had some fun with it, and I even thought season 3 was actually pretty good at times. It was kind of a shame the show got cut short just as it started going into a more story arc-oriented approach.
