Were Screech and Mr. Belding supposed to be gay lovers?

Mr. Belding appeared to be a father figure to the kids on the original Saved By The Bell series. However, when Screech dropped out of college to become Mr. Belding’s unpaid assistant, it certainly seemed as though Screech viewed Mr. Belding as his mentor. After a couple seasons, it appeared as though Screech and Mr. Belding had become gay lovers. There was an episode in which Mr. Belding was sitting topless as a pool and Screech gave him a sensual rundown of suntan lotion. There was also an episode in which they actually rode a tandem bike on a school trip to Paris, France! Perhaps it was taboo to do so back in the late 90s, but if the show was on today, Screech would probably come out of the closet and admit to being Mr. Belding’s gay sex slave!
