When Screech Met Shaggy...

I'm pretty sure its been mentioned here, but I never watched this show and was wondering since my cousin cosigned me to several hours of watching this version of "Saved by the Bell"; since when did Screech stop being just a common goofball to all of a sudden actually being a live action version of Shaggy from the Scooby Doo cartoons?

Seriously. I saw some episodes of "Saved by the Bell: The College Years", and he was still 'regular' Screech,hell, he even got a girl from Zack on one episode! But on the episodes of "New Class" I watched, he became highly annoying, saying "Zoinks" every five seconds and his voice was a weird high pitch.

What up with that?!
