Biggest Mistake

The biggest mistake this show made was: CUTTING KELLY'S HAIR!!!!

I bet the first time some fans saw her with short hair, the channels started changing.

reply

she probably decided to cut her hair... show's don't always get the actors to do it! or she cut it for another role?

reply

I thought it looked better that way actually...It made her look more grown up which was kind of the point of the show, they aren't in high school anymore so they needed to look like they weren't in high school anymore.

reply

I guss but her did look better longer!

reply

I agree. With her short hair it seemed like she also had a whole new personality. It was like she wasn't even playing the same character anymore.

reply

I find it hard to believe that a show failed just because a character changed their hair style.

reply

I agree with you that they altered her personality and if you look at it as well she was doing 90210 to be with her boyfriend Justin Green. I just think that they changed her personality because when I watched the start of The College Years Kelly was not written in the show until a few months later and that is when I started to notice she was no longer playing the Kelly like in high school. What did they do with that one character that started on the show when Kelly reappeared? That was stupid! I sort of figured that they would have kept her on the show as another character for us to watch as well in the story lines.

Actually, I was watching E!'s 101 Biggest Celebrity Oops! (or one of those other countdowns) and they actually DID cancel a show because the actress cut her hair...God I wish I could think of the name of the show...but I SWEAR that's why they cancelled it. 100% sure.

Remy: No, no, no, no, no! Don't just hork it down!
Emile: Too late.

That show Felicity bombed in the ratings because she cut her hair and after that, the WB made a clause in the actor's contracts forbidding them to cut their hair without the permission of the studio. But they didn't cancel it just then.

reply

Wow I completely forgot about this lol. Anyways, thanks for the correction.

She seemed more mature...more fitting for the role of Jeremiah Lasky's girlfriend.

reply

She only went out with Lasky for one episode! And the whole time he was concerned about the student-lecturer thing

Kelly's short hair fit in with TCY. Zack, Slater and Screech looked different in some way in the series. It did make her look older and she was acting older so it fit in well. One of her biggest assets was always that gorgeous hair of hers, but it belonged to the Bayside years, when she was Zack's girlfriend and not his wife

So I wouldn't call her hairstyle the biggest mistake. It was strange seeing her hair like that at first but it did suit her in that year and with the more mature plotlines. I could easily comment on Zack's longer hairstyle but the same goes for that

Chandler: on second thoughts, gum would be perfection. (thinks) Gum would be PERFECTION??

reply

All of their hairstyles changed in TCY. Slater's was straight, Zack's was longer, and even Screech's didn't look so "poofy" anymore.

I think your thinking of Felicity when Keri Russell cut her hair to a butt ugly short curly boy cut.

Personally I like Tiffani's hair short. It looked good in 90210

Hooch is Crazy!!!

reply

As look back I say it failed because they moved it to prime time.

I've had a pain in the a$$ for the past 45 years! You got any soup for that?

Went up against the Olsen Twins(Full House) at the hight of its popularity on a night that NBC had been having trouble w/for several seasons. Then dropped it mid season brought it back Saturday nights w/ a new focus on Kelly/Zack/Laskey....less comedy, more Drama. SBTB had always been comedy 90210 was popular since the 1st 1/2 season didn't produce good ratins they tought moving to The original day it was popular but at night w/a new focus may work.....it didn't and was cancled a couple months later. Thats the reason the Mascaray episode has a recap.

It would of been hard to succeed...comedies were changing from Family...to Seinfield/Workplace/less family more adult. Other than TGIF on ABC.. FreshPrince/IN The House or Blossom on NBC...prety much the only chance they had was to be on after Fresh Prince on Mondays.

Also even though they were grown up they still were living in a Saved By the Bell world. They were college students that didn't drink, didn't party, didn't cuss, didn't play video gams, never skipped class, never were hun over, Zack wuld come up w/ sceems that could get his crew arrested or expelled yet everyone jumped on board....It couldn't of been Undeclared but The Saved by The Bell kids meeting a surreal world out of theircomfort zones would of been funny. Having other college kids acting like normal college student and te Saved by the Bell kids slowly moving out of their closed off shells would of been funny
