good ridence to this garbage!!

Having been a fan of SBTB through my teen years when hearing the news that there would a college series I got quite excited. My excitement quickly turned to mush within not even 10 minutes into the first episode when I realized this show is and will be a complete failure in MORE ways than one. Here's the problems as I see them why this show was cancelled after only a few episodes:

1- The casting was terrible. (mainly- Leslie, Alex and Mike- the show would have had a chance if not for them!!!)
2- What kind of dorm doesn't allow drinking, card playing etc etc !!(in Canada we are allowed)
3- Never tackled any real college issues
4- Mike!!! thats all I have to say!!
5 - those *beep* oooh's and Ahhhh's!
6 - It was just plain awful!!
7 - There were no keg parties!!

I really could go on and on about this disaster but I really don't feel like wasting any more time than is necessary with this poor excuse for a TV show. Mark-Paul Gosselaar was quoted as saying with regards to the College Years "it was the biggest waste of MY time and so many other SBTB fans ...."

I LOVED STB: TC and like it even better than the original. I think they do tackle college issues- for an athlete going to the college level the competition is much tougher. The classes are harder and there's more work. You've got to handle a job. You consider or pledge a fraternity/sorority, you deal with roomates, you clash with professors, etc.

I for one, loved Bob Golic's "Mike Rogers" character and thought he was darn good at it.

I welcomed the new characters Leslie and Alex as they brought something new- not just the same self-absorbed Lisa who Screech always fawned over and not the feminine environmentalist Jessie. They were both different and brought good balance to the rest of the cast.

The storylines were also a bit more mature in that they weren't downright ridiculus like later years of the original SBTB, although I agree they were censored down to a more PG type show when at every college there's kids smoking, drinking, doing drugs, having sex, and cursing. But that hardly ruins the show!

I think the cast of the returning characters of Zack, Slater, Screech, and Kelly work very well the additions of Mike, Alex, Leslie, Lasky, and Dean McMann.

It's probably my favorite TV show on DVD I own and I own quite a lot. I was thrilled I could complete it with the Wedding in Las Vegas movie when it was released two weeks ago.

Drinking was not allowed in my college dorm. It was only allowed in one hall, and you couldn't go into that hall unless you were 21.
