Nanny Fine's worst outfit

Fran usually wore pretty over the top outfits but my vote for the all time WORST outfit she wore on the show was the suit that looked like a brick wall..and it had the nerve to have a matching hat??!!

reply

There were so many.I can't pick one. (lol)

Any outfit that had the shag fur collar & matching shag cuffs!

The two Shag coats she wore in summer. One was white, the other orange.

The suit with the watermelon in the design.

The sleeveless dress that had 3 different patterns. The top part from the shoulders to below the breast was leopard print. The waist down to the hips was red. The bottom of the dress was alternating panels of a rust pattern and a light gold pattern. She wore a black long sleeve turtleneck with it. Shown after the credits S4 Ep 15 "The Nose Knows".

Hot pink jacket worn with a reddish skirt. She had a large flower sown on each shoulder that had big green leaves and was red in the middle. She had on a black turtleneck sweater with it.Shown at the middle of S3, Ep 11: "The Unkindest Gift".

The bulls-eye dress worn when she was pregnant.Shown at the beginning of the episode.S6, Ep 15: "Ma'ternal Affairs".

The multi-colored jester jacket which had sleeves shredded at the elbow.
Shown at the beginning of the episode. S1, Ep 19:" Ode to Barbra Joan".

The "Spumoni" suit-The 2 piece suit has an orange skirt with a multi-colored top. One sleeve is light pink from the shoulder to right above the elbow & dark pink from the elbow to the wrist. The other sleeve is light yellow from the shoulder to right above the the elbow & dark lemon from the elbow to the wrist. The collar & neckline are orange like the skirt but the bodice is a light green crop top made out of the same material as the sleeves. Shown at the end of S2, Ep 18-"The Nanny Behind the Man"

The dress that had a top section made up of these color squares: white, light blue, black, yellow and dark red. The dress from the waist down was entirely dark red and she had on matching dark red tights.Shown at the very end of episode when Dan Ackroyd comes to fix the fridge. S1 Ep 17 "Sunday in the park With Fran".

I watched the episode "A Star is Unborn" and the outfit you (mojo2004) described wasn't in it. Maybe you are thinking of "Sunday in the Park with Fran" which has Dan Ackroyd in it?

Actually, I think every outfit she wears in "A Star is Unborn" is ugly, especially that red shirt with super baggy sleeves, worn with a black vest and black short skirt. There's also a purple, orange and green soldier-type jacket with gold buttons.

I agree with you on the Spumoni suit, in "The Nanny Behind the Man." I only have seasons 2 and 3 so haven't been able to check out the others.

Also in "The Imaginary Friend" Season 1, episode 6, she wears a checked tweed jacket with a large tomato and round purple fruit sewn onto it, along with a carrot on the sleeve. If you want to check it out, it's on youtube, added by NilesLover1, part 3.

You're right " hamben13 " it was "Sunday in the Park With Fran". Thanks for letting me know. I corrected my original post. I did go on youtube to see the outfit in "The Imaginary Friend". It was even worse than I imagined it'd be. I don't know how that one got past me!! Thanks for the laugh!

That one had to be the worst.
P.S.
The "Purple Fruit" was an eggplant

yea that was pretty uqly haa. !

Do you have a picture of this outfit, or better you know the name of the episode and season that it is from, since I don't seem to remember this outfit. ANd she did wear a lot of clothes on the show, and you just might think that I am lucky not to remember it at all. But here is a good question for you, would it have been better off without a matching hat, or another hat, or even just not at hat at all?

reply

I have to get back to you on this one

reply

Is it that hard, that you don't know the answer to?

reply

If you're talking about the suit with the eggplant on it the person who brought it up named the episode it was in.

I love her outfits. I wish there was a website dedicated to them.

reply

That would be awesome! Some of them were kind of cute.

how bout when she wears black sweaters under short party dresses then tops it off w/ black tights ugh

reply

oh god i remember that one!! that outfit was sickeningly ugly.

Found another ugly outfit! (which may match the carrot and eggplant jacket)

Just watching the episode 'The Passed-Over story' (season 4) on TV, and she's wearing this outfit that, despite the mini-shorts, makes her look about 50!
It's like this green/brown/orange/yellow long cardigan type jacket, with a brown skivvy underneath, and matching mini-shorts. But the cardigan is much longer than the shorts, and it looks strange. Also the cardigan is a bit loose-fitting, and the sleeves are a bit short.
She's also wearing stockings under the mini-shorts but I have always found this look to be strange (mini-shorts are for summer!)

Here's the link to the episode:

That outfit in the Passed-Over episode definitely goes in the top ten! It's obvious Fran Drescher was a big fan of clothers from the Disco Era! Sorry Fran but you can't go home again. Disco was still dead when your show was on and some articles of clothing can't be made Retro popular.

Most of the time Fran Fine looked like a hooker in those Disco-ey outfits.

call me crazy, but i think the worst was her jeans! their waist was too high, they were slightly carrot-shaped and were just awful lol

some of the outfits you mentioned were ugly, but it was just fran's style! lol and i loved that style ;D but the jeans... no, they were awful

Yes, that one gets my vote, too ... but there have been a number of strange ones over the years.

I HATED the bathing suit she wore in the car contest episode.

reply

The white and blue striped dress she wore to the premiere of Elton John's movie (her and Max's first date I think). I can't remember the name of the episode.

Any outfit where she wore that ruffled white blouse.

That shirt she wore in The Party's Over. It was orange polka dots or something.

reply

The was one shirt she wore and it had to much going on. It looked like a "cowgirl" shirt with the long brown indiviual strings and the shirt was half shirt to top it off.

I always found myself wondering if people actually dressed that way in the mid-90s. I don't seem to remember anyone looking like that, although I wasn't really paying much attention, I was 8-13 during The Nanny's run.
