Frasier's Status
I always found it unbelievable that a talk show personality on a local radio station could afford the things Frasier did. He couldn't have been paid that well.

shareWasn't it established on Cheers that he was from a rich family and that he was a very successful psychologist?
shareHe been a top Boston psychiatrist for years, before moving back to Seattle, and a good psychiatrist with posh clients can make big bucks! Plus Frasier's mother may have been wealthy, or from a wealthy family, so he may have had a trust fund or inheritance in addition to his Boston earning.
In other words, he was quite prosperous before he took the radio job.
He was a shrink and probably just used the radio show to pump up his ego some more. What never made sense was where the working class father fit in.
shareI understand that he was a psychologist when he was on Cheers, but I am not sure if that money carried over all those years later toward the end of Frasier. Also if his mother had money, why did Martin have to work as a cop? Some of this just doesn't make sense, but it is a television show, so I guess I have to suspend my disbelief somewhat.
shareMartin DIDN'T have to work as a cop. He chose to. He met Hester (Fraziers mother ) at a murder scene (she was a forensic psychiatrist).
shareI loved that apartment of his - holy cow that must've cost a fortune. Yah I always assumed he was from a wealthy family..
shareWhen Lilith and Frasier were on Cheers, they had a nice apartment, but it was nothing like the one on the show Frasier. Anyhow, I will just think that Frasier was from a wealthy family and continue to watch it.
