Why Didn't They Put Roz and Donny Back Together?

After Niles and Daphne became a couple in Season 8, having Roz and Donny date again could have made for some good material.

Yes! Yes! Yes, I want Daphne - I think we belong together, just like I think you and Donny belong together, and why should two people be happy when four people can be ecstatic?

I don't think Donny was Roz's type (I never bought her being after him at all), but it would probably have been no more awkward longer term than Frasier hanging around Cheers and being friends with Sam after Diane left him at the altar to return to Sam.

If Donny had not tried to sue Frasier and Daphne after she ditched him at the alter and if it wasn't for his outburst during Niles' and Daphne's nuptials, it might have worked. However, it was clear that he wasn't going get over Daphne for a very long time especially after he made that scene when Daphne and Niles were getting married. Roz would have been treated like Donny's consolation prize and that wasn't the direction the writers wanted to take with her character.

In the end, they wrote Roz as a strong, independent career woman who didn't "need" a man. Maybe it was a little too PC, but it was more consistent with way her character developed over the series.

Thankfully, they didn't. He wasn't really her type anyway.

Donny was around too long as it is.

The only reason to do that would have been to keep Donny around. There was no need for that.
