Noel Shempsky

Is an offensive character. Not all Star Trek fans are mouth breathing effeminate morons. In fact, most are not.

Duncan Idaho! Nice to meet you! Love your potatoes, man!

some are, some are 18 year old , high maintenance women.
but I've met plenty who are Noel to a 't'
that's why I enjoyed his character so much.

we're desperate! we're ludicrous! we're pathetic!

The group I associate with numbers at aorund 73. We have doctors, cops, body-builders, etc. of both genders. Not a single Noel Shempsky in the bunch.

Noel had a normal job too!

It's funny how Roz dates him during Season 1 and then never gives him the time of day throughout the rest of the show's run.

reply

Roz always needs to try everything at least once... :D

Characters are never supposed to represent all or most people.

He was an alright character until about midway through Season 6, when he went from being a socially awkward but otherwise harmless nerd to a borderline bunny boiler.

Granted, the whole thing was just a massive build-up to that fake-out in the Season 6 finale, but it bothers me how genuinely miserable he was making Roz for at least half a season.

That line about William Shatner never fails to make me laugh, however.

Did the forgotten generations scream or go full of resignation, quietly protesting innocence?

Loved him in Star Mitzvah. Never took him seriously(?) until that episode. Hilarious - especially his exchange with Frasier in the hallway when Frasier didn't follow through on the favor. "So was Brideshead Revisited..."

You've obviously have never been to a Star Trek convention.

Before my health began failing, I attended an average of about one every two years. How many have you been to?
