In the episode "Roz and the Schnoz"

When the couple with the big noses say they want to get some fresh air and make their way to the balcony, I keep expecting someone to say "save some for the rest of us" but the line doesn't happen. (the joke being, saving some fresh air due to their large noses)

Anyone know which episode I'm thinking of where that line does happen? Or maybe even a different show entirely.

Edit - typos and spelling, called Roz, Rox!

I remember the episode, but don't recall that particular joke. That whole episode was hilarious.

I thought Martin said to someone in the kitchen. Maybe it was edited out. Were you watching on Channel 4 by any chance?

reply

No, dvd. Martin jokes about being able to smell Japan after they return from the balcony.

I've definitely heard that line somewhere...

Ah, the Japan line was what I was thinking of. The only thing I can think of is the comedy Father Ted, where Ted says to Father Noel he's going to go for some fresh air, and Noel says, "Don't forget to bring us back some." But I don't even know if you've seen Father Ted before?

Interestingly enough, there's a scene in the movie Roxanne, written by and starring Steve Martin which was Cyrano D'Bergerac updated to what was then (it was 1987 if I'm not mistaken) a contemporary U.S. setting, where he agrees to a bet where he has to come up with 20 jokes about the size of his large nose. One of them was this one:

"It must be wonderful to wake up in the morning and smell the coffee ... in Brazil. "

It's not Japan but the gag is still the same and I wouldn't be surprised if the writer/writers of that episode borrowed it. Then again. there's nothing to say Martin didn't do the same himself.

And Niles went as Cyrano D'Bergerac in the episode "Halloween". The circle is complete!

Put your signature in italics or something so I don't mistake it as part of your post.

I remember that and was expecting some comment about that too, but I was expecting something more along the lines of "you shouldn't have any problem getting that."

Either way, funny episode.
