Alan's behavior in Cory's 16th bday episode

Seriously it made 0 sense that he'd reserve the entire room at Chubby's, invite Sean and Topanga, and not tell Cory..unless it was supposed to be a surprise party but there was no indication of that.

Also made 0 sense that in the days leading up to his bday, there would be no discussion between father and son about the logistics of going to get his license. Who is going to drive him there? Especially since Alan really wanted to and was counting on it...the assumption aspect made no sense at all.

Cory's exiting the house in the morning going unnoticed, and who did drive? Did Sean or Topanga get their license first?

Since Alan wasn't going to let Cory take the car anyway because he had "errands" to run, why didn't Cory just go with him? That way they could spend time together after all and Cory could even drive? If Alan had been a normal human instead of a fuss pot, he would've just said "hey I gotta run some errands before you guys take the car, why don't you come with me?" Sean and Top obviously lived nearby...they could've gone home and Cory could come get them later...or hey, 4 people would fit in any car a family man would be driving.....

Alan was completely and unrealistically wrong throughout the entire episode (Until the last scene, of course).

Also, why did the audience not react when Jack Arnold came out as the Judge?????? Hello! Some evasive actress who played Juliet in 1968 (thanks Wiki) gets an applause in the second part of "it's a long walk to Pittsburgh" episode, but Ben Savage brother's TV dad doesn't!!???? say whaaaaat. That was just a weird guest starring appearance considering it didn't seem to be done because of the Jack Arnold character.

Yes. Cory mentions that both Shawn and Topanga already have their licenses (remember, Topanga's 16th was the wrestling episode, which had already happened). Cory is apparently the youngest of the trio.

I think it was just a family thing, and Shawn and Topanga came because they were planning on going to see this movie with Cory afterwards. Plus, I mean, they're both basically family.

Well, Alan's called on that. He just assumed Cory would want to go with him first thing because he thought that was the relationship he and Cory had, and he failed to recognize that Cory had grown up.

Alan asked him to go with him! Cory wasn't interested.

Is this the same episode where Corey gets in tons of trouble with a cop for going 1 mile over the speed limit? I always thought the cop was too hard on him and so was the judge.

Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

Yep same ep. Plus the judge was Fred Savage's TV dad, which got 0 reaction from the audience and seemed like a pointless cameo.

That's because it was a speed trap.

I disagree. It made perfect sense when you consider the plot and the character development.

He didn't tell Cory that he reserved a whole room at Chubby's, nor did he speak to Cory about the about getting the licence. Those were mistakes, yes.

But why didn't he tell Corey about the dinner; why didn't he tell Cory about going to get his license together?

He didn't say anything about the dinner because they always had a birthday dinner in the past, so he thought Cory would just know. When Amy asks him about the license arrangement, Alan says outright, "I just thought Cory would wake up and come to me, asking me to take him to get his license, just like he always did" (my paraphrase).

Those reasons are quite understandable.
The show was simply establishing the disconnect between the father and the son, which formed the crux of the entire episode.
