Shawn's half-brother Eddie (new information)

The writers of Girl Meets World (who are obviously under Michael Jacobs' leadership and by and large include a lot of the same writers from BMW) have confirmed that Eddie is Virna's son, not Chet's.

A cool bit of info, since I doubt Eddie will ever come up on GMW but it's nice that we finally got that cleared up. It certainly makes more sense.

It can't be because shawn receieved a letter from her and she said that she was not his mother. So the series ended with him never knowing who his biological mother was. The most he could be is step brother.

The easiest thing i have ever had to do was give my heart.

Well that's what the writers are saying, isn't it? Eddie is actually Shawn's step-brother, not his half-brother. They've ret-conned it in a way that kind of makes sense. Given what we know about Verna, it's not a huge stretch that Eddie would split if he knew Chet and Shawn weren't his "real" family.

reply

Well, it's not necessarily a retcon. It's just that when Shawn said Eddie was his half-brother, he was incorrect. But, at that age, that was what he was being told by everyone. Eddie probably didn't know the truth either.

But yeah, this helps explain Eddie a lot. Virna wasn't around much during the course of the series, so why would Eddie interact with the Hunters? He's not one, his only connection with them is Virna. They probably never lived in the same house at any point, maybe Eddie was with his dad when Virna married Chet and 'had' Shawn. And he's probably in his early 20s when we meet him, so he's likely already living on his own in the trailer park.

Shawn also mentioned a never seen sister in the first season. Maybe Virna was big on starting franchises.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

What I don't get is that she raised Shawn as her own for about the first 13/14 years of his life. When she came back, in Fishing For Virna, she claimed to love Shawn as her own. Shawn even told Chet that his "mother" wrote him a letter every day she was gone. She had to know that Chet's death would affect Shawn, so why tell Shawn she was not his bio mom? Especially then. Virna claimed to love him. But, when revealing this secret, it's almost seems as if she never did. The guy just lost his father, and she had to take his "mother" away from him too!

Simple. The writers got lazy and decided to do yet another "woe is me" episode featuring Shawn. I know a lot of people love this show but the writing isn't good at all and inconsistent even for a family sitcom.
