Not a faithful watcher of the show. Have probably only seen like 8% of the episodes. I noticed Turner seems to have disappeared in the later part of the series. I understand that teachers will not follow students through the rest of their lives realistically (shout out to Feeney) but didn't Sean live with him for a while? Why did Turner get the axe ?

Well beyond whatever story line they cook up there, Turner's last episode saw him get in a serious motorcycle accident. IIRC he hadn't been in many episodes leading up to this one. It's implied he survives at the end of the ep. but after that we never see him, and his sudden absence is poked fun at when the kids graduate from HS.
Basically, for whatever reason, they just didn't recast him for the next season and his character was dropped.

Well Mr. Turner was just in a Girl Meets World episode. He became an administrator.
shareActually we found out he was fine after the accident in the last episode of season 5. When minkus briefly came back he can clearly by heard calling mr turner in the hallway even though mr turner is not actually shown again till his episode in gmw and he mentions he married

Shawn did live with Turner for a while, but they had a whole episode where Chet Hunter returns and takes Shawn back with him.
Why did Turner get the axe?
Perhaps the show's writers felt they used his character as much as they could.
Perhaps the actor portraying Turner didn't want to get typecast in the role, as he wanted an acting career outside of "Mr. Turner from Boy Meets World."
Perhaps he wanted more money. etc etc.
A bunch of characters left the show abruptly -- Minkus, Jason, Joey, Griff, Lonnie etc.
