Is this show anything like Degrassi, or One Tree Hill,, switched at birth type of shows? Or is it like sitcomish like George Lopez Malcolm in the middle type of stuff

I wouldn't say George Lopez, probably more like Full House with sad stories and comedy at the same time.

It is nothing compared to shows today. I'd compare it more to sitcoms of the 80s like Full House or Family Ties.
shareWell it's not drama at all so it wouldn't be like those shows you mentioned. It'd be more like other teen sitcoms of the '90s like Step by Step. It did have some melodrama but it was nowhere like the over the top melodrama that you'll see on teen soap operas like Degrassi or Finding Carter. I'd say those shows are way more closely related to shows like Days of Our Lives than Boy Meets World.
shareI can see where the op is coming from regarding drama... they over dramatized life in this show something awful. it was downright creepy the way shawn was allowed to disengage with life but was no therapist was called. sometimes you wondered exactly what this show was about... is it about weird serious stuff like the hugging cult or is it about inane yet funny as hell stuff like plays with squirrels?
Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.
