What if they never fired Lily Nicksay?

Lily's Morgan was softer and more feminine than her successor. And Lily's Morgan gave a role model to those little girls that liked "girly" things like dolls and dresses and perfume but were afraid of being seen as weak by their peers.

I'd happily share a tea party with Lily's Morgan but i always wanted to box Lindsay's Morgan's ears. Irritating, sassy, brat.

I would have liked that, but when they time jumped two years, she would have looked the same age. So, for storyline purposes, I can understand why they recasted.

reply

Didn't the "time jump" happen at the start of Season 2 though? Lily Nicksay was still on the show at this point and left at the end season. Also, Eric was in the next grade following what was in during S1. The thing is, they didn't really time-jump. First off, none of the other actors looked like they aged two years, and there was already an episode stating that Cory, Topanga, and Shawn would be graduating high school in 2000. The timeline change had them graduate two years before that, so this was no time-jump but a very crazy retcon.

reply

I think it was near the end of season 3, after the final exam episode. Near the end of the season 3 episodes, Mr. Hunter makes a comment to shawn about how he's 15 years old

reply

That might be true, but that doesn't quite answer the concern of Season 2. I'm quite positive they changed the timeline by then and not Season 3.

There was no time-jump or anything like that, all of the characters just mysteriously graduate high school after being in their tenth grade. They go from sixth grade, to seventh grade, but with seventh grade being their freshman year in a four-year high school. Eric was a sophomore in season one, a junior in season 2, and so on.

reply

Um, there had to be a time-jump. They're in high school for Seasons 2-5 and I'm sure it says what grades they're in. Do they say they're in seventh grade in S2 or tenth grade in S5? I came across a lot of sources indicating a time jump. I haven't even watched the show all like that so know how this goes down but I came across the characters being older and jumping two grades and other people have said this too.

You have no idea how many times I have seen every season of this show, starting with when it originally aired. There was no time jump. They yes refer to his freshman year of high school as seventh grade in season 2, then come season 3 they just usually stick to the titles sophomore, junior, and senior. They also call John Adams a four year (high) school. They just made a stupid mistake by having them start in sixth grade in season 1 and then go to their freshman year of high school (watch She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not in season 1 if you don't believe it's the very next year). They just essentially skip middle school. There's no time jump. Like I said, it just ads up to ten grades before graduating high school instead of twelve. There are much bigger holes to analyze than this lol. It's really not a big deal or confusing.

reply

Wow, this is very dumb. I guess you can say we're suppose to believe they're in tenth grade by Season 3 rather than eighth since some one said Shawn is said to be fifteen and if you're saying they use the "sophomore, junior, and senior" titles. Not sure how that works in a school that goes from grades 7-12 though or even 5-12. The writers must have felt they a mistake making them sixth graders and wanted them to be older so they could explore more teenage issues sooner not knowing how far along they had to go with the show. But seeing we only got them going through two years of college in the end rather than four, they should have just kept them going through high school the entire time so by Season 7 they would have graduated from high school. Seems fitting for them to graduate from somewhere right when the show is at it's close as opposed to just leaving a school to explore other opportunities. It's also awkward they would even go through college years since Cory would be a man at this point. It makes the show's title seem redundant now because he's no longer a "boy" meeting the world. Like how it was dumb for The Nanny to continue when Fran Fine married the man she was working for and was no longer "the nanny". A show like that should have ended at Fran's wedding.

Michael Jacobs says in a commentary on the season 1 DVDs that they skipped middle school to make the show have an older appeal, then did high school chronologically. But since they still called it seven grade in season 2 and considering their ages, there was no literal time-jump.

reply

Yeah, there was no literal jump, but we could say that there is a time-jump in Season 3 if they never referred to their grades of S3-5 as 8-10, so we would be good. I don't know any high school that goes up to tenth grade and then some one can just pass onto college next. Michael should have just kept the show at a younger appeal. It's BOY Meets World, so it should have remained on the preteen audience. The serious topics alone would have helped bring in an older appeal. He didn't have to jack-up the continuity and grades to do that.

reply

Eric's grades were always chronological though.

reply

Yes, but that doesn't mean anything. He was already old enough to not undergo a change in his age and grades like everyone else did who was years younger than he was. The change would only effect Cory and his friends and not Eric. Cory would now be a couple years younger than Eric than the 4-5 years he originally started as.

I don't think I'd describe a child as feminine. And "girly" girls are definitely not afraid of being that way nor did a child on BMW become a role model for anyone. And you want to share a tea party with a little kid?

Wow just so much wtf with this post.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Lily Nicksay was sooooo adorable. I was really sad when they replaced her.

reply

Then I would never have to cringe when Morgan appeared from Season 3-on. I couldn't stand Morgan No. 2

and the second one was a skank in the making.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

reply

I wish Lily had stayed on as Morgan through the whole show. I thought she fit the role better than Lindsay.
