Guilty pleasure and fun to watch every once in awhile
The movie starts off well, but towards the end, when Kurt Russell in jail, and Ray Liotta shows up at Kurt Russell's house, acting delusional around Madeleine Stowe, it loses all credibility. He seems like a somewhat intelligent guy, but at that point, the movie becomes Friday The 13th part 11. And then when he smashes Kurt's face with a metal pan, and smashes him repeatedly against the wall, Kurt would be dead.
I have to say, though, that the movie is so smoothly directed, and well-acted by all involved, that I love to watch this movie every once in awhile. Liotta's performance is very complex (at least, until the ending), Kurt Russell is very convincing, and Madeleine Stowe is also impressive. All the other actors, even the ones in bit parts, are much better than you'd expect in a movie like this.
The DVD director's commentary is also especially good. Jonathan Kaplan shares a lot of interesting info about the actors, the locations used in the movie, and different members of his crew. He knows a lot of stuff, and is fun to listen to/
Also, I have to mention Tiny, the cat. He's such a cutie, and steals all the scenes he's in.
