Michael makes a face and closes the container. How rude!
I thought that food looked pretty good. I eat Mexican food fairly often, and it looked good.
Was that to show Michael as a bit of snob? Cause he seemed like one, for a while.

It was to contrast the worlds of Pete and Mike, the cop and the developer. Pete eats greasy take-out slop while Michael is used to gourmet, upscale selections. We've all known people like this. Personally, I prefer what Pete was noshing, but if someone don't partake, I don't count it as a character flaw. To each their own.

a totally undeveloped part of the movie. mike probably eats more authentic mexican. next meal: mike takes pete to a mucho authentico place for some tamale action & pete eats the tamale husk & all! mike gets that touch o' the smug look on his face & explains yo pd don't eat the husk. pete yells i like the husk!!!
Oh, and remember, next Friday is Hawaiian shirt day.
Each to their own some like it some don't. It is not a crime to dislike certain food.

Pete said that a lot of the people there carried drugs & guns. That doesn't mean the people who work at the restaurant are bad or serve bad food.
When Pete talked to the owner, she seemed very nice & looked hardworking.

if they can get drugs & guns they probably have fresh produce & seafood connections too! they place i get my mexican baja shrimp has a few sketchy guys lingering on the sidelines!
