TYPICAL! Great film spoiled by last minute silliness!

It was going so well, very realistic (and quite amusing) final fight showdown between our hero and the twisted cop...why couldn't the directer leave the cop fallen dead at the bottom of the stairs, his head cracked open and blood was pouring from his head. But no,he suddenly gets up just like a terminator robot and say's something silly to our hero which results him blasting his way through his entire cartridge of bullets.THEN,calmly picks up the cat!!Now anyone who has a cat will know it would of ran off to the outskirts of LA by the violence and very loud noise by then....or was the stupid thing plain deaf.Great realistic story spoiled by the very last scene...TYPICAL!

Or what about the disappearing lawyer friend and motorcycle cop. WTF?

That's how they all end, man. Fatal Attraction, last second pop-up; Sleeping with the Enemy pop-up; Unlawful Entry pop-up. All from the Friday the 13th school of "and you thought it was over" for the ultimate effect.

Well, to the credit of Scream, it was a parody of this cliche.

Yes it was cliched, especially the part where Karen walks as CLOSE to the villain as she could! Why do people do that?!
As for the Pete line, it seemed like a a psycho-Pete thing to say in my opinion. He was just being mocking to the end, he never thought Michael had the balls to shoot him, never mind kill him.

And the calm picking up of the cat, I think was Michael just being *numb*. Same with Karen. They'd been through so much, their minds just shut down.

"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

The point is that after the house is destroyed by the violent physical confrontation and then five or six explosions from the .45 (?), a cat is not going to be anwhere near the scene to be calmly picked up.

Yeah, Pete doing the (not-so) surprising pop-up at the end was pretty silly, but helped end the movie on a powerful note (IE getting the *beep* shot out of him).

What really bothered me was: Does the drug bust now get invalidated and removed from his record? What about the $600 in parking tickets? What about his credit cards? What about the financial backing for his club? What about his lawyer friend who the motorcycle cop thinks sped through a red light and then evaded pursuit? If none of this is taken care of, then the ending is ultimately a big downer.

That said, this movie rules. Tight, suspenseful story, great acting by Russell and Liotta, and a couple of sex scenes. What more could you want?

This movie is a mix of some interesting stuff and cliches. It's pretty decent, well acted, but could be better.

As for the lawyer, you do seem him at the end. He pulls up in his Mercedes alongside the other cop cars and he gets out.
